Divine Visitation And Separation
Scripture.
Habakkuk 3:2 KJV
"O LORD, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O LORD, revive thy work in the midst of the years, In the midst of the years make known; In wrath remember mercy".
Message:
Whenever God visits or decides to visit (for example in a revival), He will always make a demand for a separation. God will separate you from negative habits, character and addictions etc. God will always make a demand from you to give up or let go of something before a major revival. It may be eating too much, watching television or time spent on social media. Revival always begins with the voice of God in instructions.
God will pick on and demand for anything that has the tendency to become an idol to you. He will not spare anything that tries to take His place in your heart. In the early Church revival, there are different separations that took place:
i. Separation by the Holy Ghost.
This is the best form of separation. Where God was the root of the matter.
Acts 13:2 (KJV) says, "As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them".
ii. Separation by persecution.
One of the reasons God allows this is when people refuse to do what He told them. What God told them to do in Acts 1v8 that they didn't do, they were forced to do it in Acts 8v1. The Bible says in Acts 8:1 (KJV) "And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judæa and Samaria, except the apostles".
iii. Separation by disagreement.
Acts 15:39-40 (KJV) says, "And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus; and Paul chose Silas, and departed, being recommended by the brethren unto the grace of God". This is a summary of the way Barnabas and Paul that were sent forth together by the Holy Ghost in Acts 13 separated.
Barnabas made an emotional decision and "took" (random & careless selection) Mark and moved on. Paul "chose" (prayerful & careful selection) Silas. He refused to move with emotions until the brethren prayed with him and committed him to the grace of God (Acts 15v40). Barnabas went into oblivion, nobody heard anything about him again after Acts 15. Paul kept galloping with exploits all through the book of Acts. Infact, he wrote about 70% of the new testament that we read today.
